EASTEC brings large crowds to Mass

WEST SPRINGFIELD Exhibitors came from areas including Wisconsin, New York, all over Massachusetts and Connecticut, Korea and many other areas.

EASTEC, the East Coast's largest Annual Manufacturing Event took place May 23 through the 25th at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds.

The focus of the show was 'asking companies how they measured up competitively with other companies' stated the welcoming brochure.

EASTEC is sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), American Machine Tool Distributors Association (AMTDA) and the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) and featured exhibits in over six buildings at the Eastern States fair grounds.

It was arranged in five distinct shows that included Plant, Energy, & Environmental Efficiency; Precision Manufacturing Equipment & Systems; Automation, Lean, & Quality; Design, Engineering, and Rapid Technologies; and Tooling, Workholding, and Machining Accessories.

"The mission of any manufacturer is to stay current," said William J. Geary, president of Society of Manufacturing Engineers, in his welcome statement.

Some resources that this event offered include EXPOtential Networking, a new program that matches you to people with similar interests and a machine operator mobile training center.
