WEST SPRINGFIELD - "There is an immediate need for volunteers for the flagging ceremony," James Berrelli Jr., director of West Springfield Veterans' Services said to Reminder Publications last week.

Volunteers are needed to flag graves of veterans in the St. Thomas the Apostle and Jewish Cemeteries of West Springfield. The cemetery is located off of Kings Highway Berrelli said.

The flagging will commence on Oct. 28 at 9 a.m. rain or shine. Volunteers should bring a screwdriver or something similar in case the ground is hard in the placing of the flags.

Interested parties can call Berrelli directly or show up at the cemetery. Berrelli can be reached at the Department of Veterans' Services at 263-3019.

West Springfield's Fifth Annual Veterans' Day Breakfast will take place on Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. at the St. Thomas School Auditorium.

The Breakfast will be sponsored by the West Springfield Department of Veterans' Services and Veterans' Council. Tickets for adults are seven dollars, children under 12 are three dollars and fifty centes. Tickets can be obtained by calling or getting tickets at the door.

Numbers to call to obtain tickets are Henry Tessier at 737-8641 or Dorothy at 739-7600.
