Date: 4/5/2010

WEST SPRINGFIELD Storrowton Village Museum's annual series of crafts workshops will take place April 14 to 16 in the historic setting of the popular museum from 2 to 4 p.m.

Participants will be guided step by step through a 19th century-style craft project to keep or give as a special gift to be treasured now and in the future. Lessons in punch embroidery, hand-sewn quilting and making a gathering basket will be presented. Classes are limited to 10 participants and the $20 per person, per class fee includes all instruction and craft materials needed to complete each project.

April 14 Punch Embroidery Gerry Barbeau of the Embroiderers Guild of America Inc. will teach the Victorian art of punched paper embroidery (also known as Bristol Board) as she guides participants through making an antique-style bookmark.

April 15 Introduction to Hand-Sewn Quilting Carol Geryk of the Granville Quilt Guild will head up this class and explain how there is more to quilting than just sewing pieces of cloth together, as she teaches participants the steps to creating a finished quilt square. The completed product could be used as a pillow top or the beginning of a full-size quilt.
