WEST SPRINGFIELD — After the issue was referred to the Traffic and Safety subcommittee of the Town Council last month, members are researching the conversion of a portion of New Bridge Street into a two-way street and it is tentatively scheduled to submit its findings in February.

Council President Kathleen Bourque confirmed that the issue was delegated to the subcommittee by a majority vote at the Dec. 3, 2012 council meeting.

The section of New Bridge Street posed for conversion runs from the intersection at Memorial Avenue and Bridge Street, to the intersection at Union Street.

Colvest-West Springfield LLC initiated the request to further develop the former St. Ann Church site, which it owns.
