Assistant Managing Editor WILBRAHAM The longtime staple of Wilbraham, Bennett Turkey Farm, has closed. The farm is known both locally and nationally for its fresh and frozen native Massachusetts turkeys. Approximately two weeks ago the family-owned location went up for sale with an asking price of $500,000 for its 16 acres. Real estate agent Ann Paquette feels the property boasts a great deal of potential. "There is a lot of interest in it. Many people have inquired. The property is an opportunity for a developer. The developer can take advantage of 16 acres on Main St. The property abuts Minnechaug," Paquette said. Paquette said the Bennett family "isn't interested in farming at this point in time. They have gone into different fields." She also acknowledged that the town does have first refusal rights on the property. When contacted by Reminder Publications Frank Bennett said he had "no comment." |
