WILBRAHAM Members of the Springfield Falcons swapped their hockey sticks for ice cream scoopers and competed against one another for a chance to be crowned the winner of a "Create a Sundae" contest.

As a part of an ongoing partnership between Friendly's Ice Cream Corporation and the Springfield Falcons, the team headed up to Friendly's headquarters in Wilbraham to create their ice cream delights, last Tuesday.

Sundaes were required to have three scoops of ice cream, up to three toppings, and a dry topping.

The players were broken up into groups and their creations were judged on their originality and taste. The winners of each group went on to compete against one another. The victor of the final round will have his sundae featured on the Friendly's menu in March.

In a preliminary round Dan Cavanaugh's concoction, "Cavvy's Flavor Carnivale," was the winner of his group. His fellow contestants and their sundaes included: Eric Healey, "Strawberry Surprise;" Norm Milley, "Ultimate Cookie Crunch;" and Jonathan Boutin, "Killaries."

At the end of the day it was Mike Egener won the final event with his "Uut-o-Eggy-o Sundae."

The recipe will be revealed when the sundae hits local Friendly's restaurants in March.

The team also toured the Friendly's plant and participated in a meet and greet with employees.
