Fire Department hosts open house

WILBRAHAM The Wilbraham Fire Department will be sponsoring their annual Open House on Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at both Fire Headquarters at 2770 Boston Road and Station 2, 8 Woodland Dell Road in the center of Wilbraham.

This year's Fire Prevention Theme is "Prevent Cooking Fires, Watch What you Heat." Most fires start in the kitchen than any other part of the home. We need to teach both adults and children how to keep cooking fires from starting in the first place.

Various demonstrations and booths will be on display to hand out important fire and life safety information to our citizens.

Smokey the Bear will make his yearly appearance.

This year, the Massachusetts Freemasons will be sponsoring the Child Identification Program, or CHIPS, at Fire Headquarters, located on Boston Road.

This program is dedicated to providing a tool to parents to help protect their children by giving the authorities vital information to assist in locating a missing child.

Residents and their families are welcome to visit the fire station, eat some pizza, meet their fire fighters, and have some fun.
