Plots available at relocated Hampden community garden

Date: 5/11/2010

May 11, 2010

HAMPDEN - The community gardens are relocating to an open field off Mill Road in Hampden. This is a great opportunity for gardeners to grow their own veggies and flowers and enjoy the fruits of their labors. Both residents and non-residents alike can take advantage of this opportunity to really grow organic.

Each garden plot is approximately 20 feet by 20 feet. They are large enough to grow a good supply of tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, onions, peppers, beans, carrots and all the other goodies you will enjoy all summer. And there is the additional advantage of getting the exercise involved in gardening.

To sign up for this exciting adventure call Garden Coordinator Beryle Doten at 566-3466. She will supply any information you may need, provide a sign up sheet and collect the $20 fee per plot. Plowing and tilling of the plots will occur around the middle of May. Sign ups will also be available at the Hampden Farmers' Market, which opens May 15.
