HAMPDEN Last Monday's thunderstorm left its mark on Meadowbrook Lane in Hampden. The following day, a path of strewn trees could be found down the entire street. Residents cleaned up the remnants of large trees that just barely missed their homes. Wilbur Jenkins, who has lived in Hampden for 50 years, had four trees come down around him. He told Reminder Publications he had "never seen anything like this before."
The tree that came down in his front yard came so close to his front door, some of its leaves were caught in the door's awning. He said that was the extent of damage to his home.
Around the block at Centennial Commons, a tree was uprooted toward the entrance of the property.
