WILBRAHAM — The Vision Task Force is continuing to reach out to the community for input on the direction of the town.

In addition to seeking opinions through meetings and face-to-face interactions, the task force has released an online survey on the town's website with which they hope to gather information on what residents think of their community presently and where it can improve for the future.

"We're trying to get a general assessment of things and how people see the direction of this town," Chuck Phillips, chair of the Vision Task Force, told Reminder Publications.

The information gathered will be used as a compass for the task force, which has been charged with identifying the town's long-term goals by Jan. 13, 2013 in order to begin the formulation of a new Master Plan.

"As our 250th Anniversary celebration is kicking off, we will have a good feeling of where we're going as a town," he said.

The survey includes eight open-ended questions that require written answers.

"The questions are meant to be thought provoking and by being open-ended, they require some thought on the part of the participants," Phillips said.

Also included in the survey are six questions that ask for short answers or words to describe certain aspects of the town and a section in which participants can rate the needs of the community moving forward.

The survey can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/s/ImagineWilbraham.

In addition to the survey, Phillips said the town is planning meetings with specific groups.

"We've already met with some town employees, but we're also planning meetings at the schools to get the input of our youth and meetings with other town organizations are in the works," Phillips said, adding that later in the process the task force plans on hosting larger forums.

The public is welcome to attend any meetings, the agendas for which are posted on the town's website and at Town Hall.

"We're also looking for new members," Phillips said. "Anyone interested in joining us may do so by expressing interest at our meetings."

The next scheduled meeting of the Vision Task Force is May 23 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
