BELCHERTOWN – The Belchertown Family Center is hosting a Fall into Fun event on Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Belchertown Common.
The Family Center began in 1998 when a group of parents decided Belchertown needed something special for the young children in town. The Family Center started as a one morning per week, volunteer-run playgroup with a handful of families meeting in a church basement. The Family Center now has a permanent location where almost 200 families enjoy the center five times a week. Although the Family Center has grown tremendously since, it is still run almost entirely by volunteer support.
The idea for this event was to raise money for the Family Center and give back to the community after it hosted a similar event in the summer.
Belchertown Family Center Chair Natalie Santana said, “This is not only a great way to give back to the family center but also to put on a great event for the community and kids. We will have plenty of activities and fun.”
Santana added, “The event we put on in July was too hot so why not host one in the fall? We had a great turnout for that event, but I expect a much bigger turn out for this one.”
There will be live music for kids, food trucks, over 40 vendors, various fall activities and a costume contest. The vendors will have information and products to sell for kids and adults. Most of the vendors are local small businesses. Santana is a small business owner herself and said, “I am all for seeing everyone succeed in a small business.” Some of those vendor tables include, homemade slime, build your own dog toy, food and fall crafts.
Santana said, “I am really excited for the event and look forward to see everyone in the [Belchertown] common to enjoy the changing of the leaves, fall breeze and all the fun.”
Participants do not need to buy tickets to the event.
