BELCHERTOWN – The Friends of Clapp Memorial library will be bringing back its book sale for the first time in 2 ½ years.
Library Director Cyndi Harbeson said that the book sale has been going on in Belchertown for well over 25 years but has not been able to operate the last two years because of COVID-19.
The sale will take place from Dec. 5 to 10. The hours vary each day.
The book sale will kick off on Dec. 5 from 4 to 8 p.m.
On Dec. 6 to 9, the book sale will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 9 will also be Senior Citizen Day and everyone 60 years of age or older will receive 25 percent off their purchases.
The book sale will conclude on Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is also half-price day where all items will be listed with the discount.
Harbeson said the library has any kind of book you could imagine from children’s books, fiction, nonfiction as well as puzzles, games, CDs and DVDs for sale.
The library tries to host the book sale once in the spring and once in the fall.
Harbeson added that they had to push the book sale from October to December because of the construction in the parking lot.
“There is a huge turnout every year. The main reason we could not do it when the parking lot was under construction was because it fills up the upper and lower lot,” Harbeson said.
Harbeson said they library is excited to see this event return and residents should hold off on any book donations until after the book sale because the shelves are full in preparation of a large turnout.
Most of the books for sale are donations from the community as well as ones the library is willing to put up for sale.
