BELCHERTOWN – Between shirt designs, stickers and custom printed glass cups, Two Mums Co., a new business in Belchertown, offers a variety of handcrafted goods for sale.
Haleigh LaBruna, the owner of Two Mums Co., said she initially started crafting for herself and friends.
“I actually just opened within the last month or so. I originally started with doing home projects like selling stickers, decals and clothes to family and friends when I realized I could make a couple extra bucks with this, so I decided to open a small business,” she said.
Before diving into creating a business, LaBruna said she started crafting as a hobby.
“I realized that instead of buying things I could make them myself, so I dabbled into it a little bit and had fun. It is kind of like a hobby for me because I am a registered nurse, I work full time and I also go to school, so it is something I can enjoy doing while also making an income with it,” she said.
LaBruna said she sells a variety of custom goods.
“I sell customized clothing such as sweatshirts and t-shirts, stickers, decals, mailbox decals, I also have personalized cups on my Etsy page. What I am trying to do is put myself out there and the biggest thing is shopping small and trying to support everyone around here,” she said.
LaBruna added that everything available from her store is handmade and she is trying to add more inventory as trends change.
“I think of things that I would want to order myself and things that I have ordered in the past and come up with a new design for it. I also do a lot of research on what is popular, for example glass can cups are really popular right now so I started making my own designs between what I would want on a cup and what is really popular right now,” she said.
LaBruna said she felt motivated after she became friends with Natalie Santana, the owner of Rey of Sunshine, another local crafts business based out of Belchertown.
“I have been doing my own crafts for probably about two years. I never really thought about making it into something until most recently when I had become friends with one of our other local small businesses who said I could do it,” she said.
LaBruna said she came up with the name for Two Mums Co. with her wife.
“I run it together with my wife, I am the sole runner while she is in the background trying help me promote. So, it is the two of us and then she is actually eight months pregnant so we have a little one coming, so we were like ‘Oh, we are two new mums,’” she said.
With Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok pages open for messages,
LaBruna said anyone can reach out for more info.
“There is availability to message me if there is something that they do not see that they want or want to change. They are always welcome to message me, and I am willing work with whomever wants to make a design, change a design or making something come to life, I love trying to make people’s dreams come to life,” she said.
LaBruna added that she is excited to see her business grow while providing smiles to all her customers.
“I am looking forward to getting out in the community, supporting other small businesses and having other small businesses support me because I know that is a really big thing nowadays. My main goal is to make people happy, and I love making people happy and bringing their dreams and visions to life,” she said. It is a way for people to express themselves and I want people to be able to express themselves without being scared to do so.”
