Easthampton Congregational Church’s annual Fall Festive Fair will go on – with a twist

Date: 11/11/2020

EASTHAMPTON – As people around the world search for some type of normalcy, the Easthampton community looks to do the same. An annual fundraiser known as Fall Festive Fair will soon take place, but with a twist.

For countless years, the Fall Festive Fair has lured in church goers and locals. Taking place at Easthampton Congregational Church in Fellowship Hall, vendors, crafts and silent auctions has always brought the people back. However, COVID has altered these attractions. This year, there will be no vendors, no silent auction or raffles.

Janet Zmaczynski, one of the three chairs for this event scheduled for on Nov. 14, 9 a.m., to 2 p.m., said, “Because of social distancing, people can’t all be here at once. We have to pare it down.”

People are now encouraged to order online or call the church to pre-order. If they don’t feel comfortable coming in, they can have deliveries made out to their cars. Everyone is required to wear a mask at all times.

Zmaczynski shared, “We each have a role, as I’m in charge of hot and cold foods. Our specialty is golumpkis.” These, along with hot peppers and specialty pies will be offered this year. “People look forward to it and love homemade church food.”

A lot of churches have cancelled events, but Easthampton Congregational wants people to know that they are still present. Their services started two weeks ago outside but were moved indoors due to the cold weather. Seats are partitioned off for safety.

In the past, the church raised a lot of money through this event. This year Zmaczynski predicts that they won’t make as much.

Kathy Kaniecki, a craft vendor in previous years, will also be taking pre-orders. Some of her crafts include Raggedy Ann and Andy’s, aprons, and even alterations for your everyday essentials. In order to place an order, call 527-2708.

For other past vendors, they were given the option to be advertised at the fair with no cost. If customers contact them directly, their items will be sold and delivered.

Orders have already been coming in and will be going fast as it’s first come, first serve.
