Easthampton Council on Aging to host annual holiday meal

Date: 12/1/2020

EASTHAMPTON – Despite COVID-19 making holiday events look a little different this year, the Easthampton Council on Aging (ECOA) will continue to host their annual holiday meal and concert on Dec. 16.

Dawn Graichen-Moore, activities coordinator at the COA, said that in previous years the event was hosted at the center, but because all public buildings remain closed until the end of the year, the event will be virtual.

“It is not as good as being in person but it is still a thing we are all doing together at the same time,” she said.

Graichen-Moore said Big E’s supermarket has provided the meals for their holiday event in the past and will continue to this year. There are 80 slots available to sign-up to receive a meal.  Residents who would like to receive one have to be a senior citizen and RVSP by calling the center at 527-6151. The deadline to reserve is Dec. 7.

The meals will be delivered to everyone on the morning of Dec. 16. Residents who sign up will receive a pot roast, mashed potatoes, vegetables and a dessert. There will also be a vegetarian option available.

A Ray of Elvis will be performing and his concert can be watched on the Easthampton Media cable channel 191 or his fan Facebook page, Ray Guillemette Jr./A-Ray Of Elvis/KING KOUNTRY Official Facebook Fan Page | Facebook. Graichen-Moore said the concert is open to anyone.
