EASTHAMPTON – The Planning Board met to conduct one new public hearing and two continued hearings from Jan 5.
The applicant for Stronger than Yesterday LLC, Rachel Dymon, withdrew her application because she is being purchased out of her lease by Aubuchon Hardware.
Assistant City Planner Curtis Wiemann told Reminder Publishing the board allowed her to withdraw her application without prejudice in case she has any interest in applying again in the future, even though she indicated to the board and correspondents that she was unlikely to do so because she does not have a new location lined up.
The board also approved Palmer Paving’s site review and special permit for their accessory structures and the height of the structures.
Wiemann explained that some time between 1989 and 2020 structures were added without a permit.
He said when Peckham Industries Inc. of White Plains, NY, purchased Palmer Paving, they found that three silo structures and drag slat conveyors were built without an amended special permit.
The owners came forward to make an application for the special permit and site plan review to get the structures permitted appropriately.
Additionally, the board heard from High Five Inc., which is now seeking a special permit under section 10.10 and 12.9 to operate as a cannabis cultivator and product manufacturer at 19 Wemelco Way.
A special permit for a marijuana facility at the site had previously been approved for a business that never commenced operations.
Due to some uncertainties regarding the location of street lights and building signs, as well as odor control, no vote was made and the public hearing was continued to the board’s next meeting on Feb. 2, which took place after press time.
