Knights of Columbus to host car show to beneft cancer hospital

Date: 6/19/2019

SOMERS, CT. – Hop in your hot rod and dust off your roadster to raise money for lung cancer at the first Annual Knights of Columbus Cruisin Car Show. It’s not just for cars, either. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 29, tractors, boats, and trucks will join classic and unique cars to show off their style at 236 Main St., Somers, CT.

Gary Lemieux, a member of the Knights of Columbus, decided to put on the show as a tribute to his father, who recently died of the disease. He said the money raised will be donated to a cancer hospital. Smilow Cancer Hospital would likely be the recipient, Lemieux said, although it had not yet been finalized.

Lemieux is hoping there will be about 200 vehicles. The show is open to all of the regional car clubs, he said. There is a $10 submission fee for each vehicle. People can pre-register their vehicles at the Knights of Columbus or by email at gary@trend2000.com. Vehicles can also be registered the day of the event.

Lemieux said there would be “best of show awards in all classes.”

Admission is free and  the event is open to the public. Food choices, including breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs, and hamburgers will be available for purchase and there will be a bounce house for kids.
