Local author attends Connecticut Ren. Faire for signing

Date: 8/23/2018

ENFIELD – Corporate America worker–turned–author of “The Kitty Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him” Shawn Flynn will be attending the Connecticut Renaissance Faire’s 20th season to meet with fans and sign books during their “Meet the Author” event.

Flynn originally hailed from Philadelphia and moved to Connecticut in the mid 90’s following his recruitment by a Hartford insurance company. He lived in Southern Connecticut in New Haven County for ten years, and then moved to Enfield in 2006.

“The Kitty Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him” is Flynn’s first book. He explained to Reminder Publishing that he has written research reports and business documents for over 25 years, however he had never wrote something, “from the heart.”

“A few years back I had an emotional experience that I wrote about. I just wanted to document my thoughts and experiences and how I felt, I wasn’t trying to write a book,” Flynn explained.

What started as a release ended up turning into an award–winning book. Flynn shared his writings with his friends and family, and they encouraged him to see if he could turn it into a book.

“I actually thought about it for quite some time before I began pursuing it,” he said. “Once I did, though, I’ve been working hard on it ever since.”

Flynn describes “The Kitty Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him” as a “real nice story” about himself and his cats. The story focuses on the first cat that he rescued and the positive impact his cat had on him.

“The story details how Kitty and I met, we met under unique circumstances, how our relationship developed over the course of several months, how he ended up stealing my heart and how I fell in love with him,” Flynn shared.

While it took a mere few weeks for Flynn to write his initial manuscript, he let it sit dormant for a while. After he decided to make his writings into a book it took him six months before he had a finished product.

“The editing took time,” Flynn stated. “The agonizing over every word, formatting the interior, creating a cover, obtaining ISBN and Library of Congress Control numbers, learning how to properly prepare a copyright page and all the other things that go along with publishing a book. But, the time and effort was all worth it as I have a finished product that I am very proud of.”

Since publication, “The Kitty Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him” has a five–star review on Amazon with 125 reviews. Flynn has won several awards, including the Reader’s Favorite Book Award, and was a finalist for the Best Book Award and International Book Award.

“I get emails and messages from people almost daily who have read my book and just wanted to share with me how much they loved it. My book is available on Amazon worldwide and I have a pretty large social media network; cat lovers from all over the world,” he said. “I’ve received messages from people who have read my book in Canada, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Ghana and countries I can’t even remember.”

Though Flynn spends most of time promoting his book at bookstores, libraries, cat shows and other venues, he notes that when he’s not promoting, he can be found at home sitting on his back porch spending time with his significant other Carrie and taking care of his kittens. Flynn also enjoys working around his house, riding his motorcycle and going to car shows.

“The Kitty Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him” is sold on Amazon for Kindle for $6.99 and in paperback for $9.95. On Sept. 2, Flynn will be at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire located at 122 Mack Rd. in Lebanon, CT from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
