ENFIELD — The Trax Training & Fitness Center in Scitico Plaza had its grand opening on Feb. 1 with over 100 people in attendance. Many of the members of the North Central Connecticut Chamber, Enfield Mayor Robert Cressotti and many town officials and local businesses were in attendance. General Manager Donna Leonard said, “We want people to see the facility, it’s brand new. We have all brand new equipment including cardio, strength training equipment and functional training equipment.”
Trax Training & Fitness is an expansion of Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness Center. Healthtrax has been in the industry since 1979 and their personal training product has been developed at their other locations for years. Their personal trainers are all certified personal trainers and are the best in the industry. Trax Training & Fitness is a new endeavor for them in that the location is 13,000 square feet and this new model has the same basic services of their larger locations but the emphasis here is on personal training and small group personal training. “We felt the smaller boutiques and smaller models is something in the fitness industry that is up-and-coming,” Leonard stated. “I’m hoping this facility being a smaller model will drive people to want to work out in a smaller setting. It is less intimidating and people can focus more on their health and invest in themselves to live a better life.”
Leonard has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and has been with Healthrax for over 10 years. This opportunity came when Healthtrax reached out to her to see if she wanted to run the Trax Training facility so in June of 2022, Leonard moved to Connecticut. She told Reminder Publishing a lot of people struggle with nutrition and don’t know what to do when they join a gym. They do not have a road map toknow what exercises to do, and how to do the exercises with proper form to keep them safe from injury. All members receive two complimentary personal training appointments when they join Trax Training & Fitness. The first one is called a Healthy Start where the trainer sits down with a client and do a health status profile. The trainer goes through any and all health history, medications, what the client’s goals are, digging deep into finding out why they’re here, why they joined the gym and what the trainer can do to help them.
From there the trainer does an inbody 570 scan. A body fat testing machine which gives them great information about a client. It measures their muscle mass, weight and body fat percentage as well as many other specific information the trainer use to determine a safe direction to move forward in the client’s fitness journey. Based on the clients’ goals, the trainer does what is called a Healthy Start Consultation. This is an in depth series of questions on the client’s health history, fitness experiences, goal settings, exercise knowledge, nutrition, and lifestyle. The trainer then performs a fitness assessment to see how the client’s body moves and a demo workout. The trainer presents their professional recommendation and how the client can work with personal training. The trainer goes over all of Trax Training’s personal training packages based on their recommendations.
The trainer then sets up the client’s second complimentary training appointment. Based on the client’s assessment and goals, the trainer spends 60 minutes going through the client’s personalized workout designed specific to their needs. If the client decides they would like to invest in personal training, the trainer sets up an appointment with the client to get them on their road to success.
“My main goal is to make Trax Training & Fitness Center the best personal training, small group personal training facility in Enfield,” Leonard said. “We’re hoping to get the word out that we’re here and ready to help people achieve their fitness goals.”
