Date: 1/5/2023

ENFIELD, CT – On Dec. 21, Agri-Mark celebrated the grand opening of their new, state-of-the art distribution facility on 113 North Maple St. The event featured a celebratory ribbon cutting and an open house tour for employees and farmers.

“We were very pleased with the turnout,” said Amber Sheridan, director of corporate communications for Agri-Mark. “It was great to see so many people excited to see this building completed and the start of this new distribution facility which will be ongoing for the next several weeks.”

Attendees included Enfield Mayor Bob Cressotti, Enfield Town Manager Ellen Zoppo, members of the Enfield Town Council, town staff and department heads, Gaye Sgamboti of Enfield Food Shelf and Adam Winstanley, principal of Winstanley Enterprises, LLC, owner/developer of the North Maple Street distribution center. As part of the ribbon cutting Agri-Mark partnered with Winstanley Enterprises to collectively donate $5,000 to the Enfield Food Shelf.

“Agri-Mark is a company that boasts some very impressive award-wining accolades,” Winstanley said. “We think it’s incredibly exciting to see that type of company choose to invest in Enfield, and we are even more excited to see Agri-Mark settle into this state-of-the art facility and to integrate into the local community here.”

Agri-Mark is a dairy farmer cooperative owned by 600 farm families across New England and New York. Their farmers produce about 3 billion pounds of milk each year. Then that milk is used and turned it into award winning dairy products. Agri-Mark brands include Cabot Creamery and McCadam Cheese.

Derek Zwegust, director of corporate strategy at Agri-Mark explained, “Agri-Mark’s West Springfield manufacturing site is about 20 minutes away and we currently store our butter and nonfat dry milk powder products in a few different warehouses throughout the West Springfield area.” He continued, “The vision for this new facility was to consolidate those smaller scattered warehouses into one modern facility where our entire workforce can be under one roof, gain efficiencies across our network, improve quality, safety and our ability to ship accurately and in fold to customers.”

Agri-Mark’s goal for 2023 is to have a start-up of this Enfield distribution center that focuses on employees’ safety, food safety and quality aligned. They shared they want to kick off this facility in a careful manner, so they are able to start delivering to customers and making their employees feel good about their transition into the new center.

Zwegust responded, “It’s been really rewarding to see how the farmers have invested in this project and how this project will return efficiency and ultimately improve the long-term performance of their dairy co-op.”

Sheridan added, “There’s a lot of pride in seeing this new facility really come to fruition. It’s been a long several years process to see it come together.”

She continued, “Everybody works hard to make sure our products are the best that they can be. This facility will allow us to be better at what we do and crafting award winning dairy products.”
