Booster Club offering banners for advertising in new fundraiser in Granby

Date: 4/25/2023

GRANBY — The Granby Booster Club is calling on all local business owners for the opportunity to advertise their business via banners along the Granby Junior-Senior High School varsity baseball and softball field fences in a new fundraising effort.

The Granby Booster Club is a nonprofit fundraising group of parents committed to helping financially support the athletic programs at Granby Junior-Senior High School for the benefit of all athletes. The Booster Club is dedicated to establishing open communication and a good working relationship with the representatives of the high school to provide student athletes with rewards and opportunities above and beyond the existing school budget while striving towards offering service equality to all athletes.

Booster Club Treasurer Brian Carillon spoke with Reminder Publishing about their latest fundraising efforts specifically to cover the costs of the new fences. Carillon explained that last year costs of the fences was absorbed in majority by the Granby Junior-Senior High School administration. The first fence was erected last spring for the baseball field and coming into this year the Booster Club was focused on erecting a second permanent fence and safety fences for the softball field.

Carillon explained prior to the newly implemented fences there were temporary break through mesh style fences that needed to be replaced. He noted it was the conscious decision of the Booster Club to now offer banners for advertising revenue for the club to raise 100% of the money spent that officially brought in the fences.

“This was a pretty necessary project, the old mesh fence was pretty dilapidated and [replacing them] obviously produces a better product for the student athletes,” Carillon said. “We’ll continue to raise funds until we meet what the costs of the fence was, in addition to two safety fences in front of the benches for the softball J.V. field.”

Carillon said business owners interested in getting their own banner can reach out to him at brian.carillon@yahoo.com or visit www.gjshsboosterclub.org for more information on how to get involved.

The vinyl banners will allow businesses to display a self-designed advertisement for their business that will be placed along the new varsity fences and will stay up for two seasons. The banner will not only be displayed to Granby residents, but also to the visiting fans from every team that visits the field including Belchertown, South Hadley, Holyoke, Amherst, Palmer, Chicopee, Southwick and numerous other towns.

Carillon noted that the goal of all the various fundraisers from the Booster Club was to have all dollars raised going directly toward the funding and betterment of the school’s athletics. He added they have helped with equipment and field conditions before and will continue to do so in their efforts to support student athletes in Granby.

“Its [the Booster Club] mission is to really make sure that we’re giving 100 percent of the funds back to improve student athletics at Granby High through purchases for their teams that would help with practicing,” Carillon said. “It’s just a sense of pride for the students at Granby High when we’re playing at home, and we have opposing towns coming in.”
