Peak Performance Bike Shop moves to new location

Date: 8/25/2021

GRANBY – Peak Performance Bike Shop is now located at 52 West State St. (Rte. 202), making the move after 17 years at their 77 West State St. address.

“This has been a longtime thing,” said Owner Mat Harris. “For years, I was thinking that I would like to find something different. It just happened to be in December that I saw a sign right down the street. I’ve only been in this location officially since the beginning of the month and it literally took that much time to get this to happen, but I'm here.”

Peak Performance Bike Shop has been in business for 25 years, offering repairs and services that range from basic tune-ups, major overhauls and flat repair to shock overhauls, brake bleeds and electronic shifting. Harris was a professional bike racer; a national number-one ranking as an amateur and traveled to Holland in 1983 where he won the World Championships.

“At that time, I went to school for video programming/production, but I began working at a bike shop,” Harris replied. “It seemed like it was a fun thing to do back then, so then I just ended up working and managing a few shops. I had an opportunity to take out a loan to start my own shop.”

Harris continues to do a lot of repairs and has been told by some of the customers that have come over to the new location, that it stands out very well. He’s updated the shop's website and is doing as much as he can on social media to inform everyone on the new location. His goal right now is to be able to do his job – which is to fix and sell bikes as well as sell accessories, clothing, shoes, helmets and parts.

Peak Performance Bike Shop is open from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays. Visit their website at peakbikes.com or call 467-2453.
