HADLEY — The Edward Hopkins Educational Foundation hosts the seventh annual Hadley Celebration of Lights Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Hopkins Academy Gazebo.
Foundation President Joseph Pelis said the gathering is open to all and is taking place with the assistance of the Police and Fire departments who are collecting gifts for children at the Shriner’s and Baystate Hospitals.
The free, community event will feature the lighting of the tree and the gazebo along with holiday decorations, light refreshments and carols, featuring members of the local Girl Scout Troops.
“We decorate the Christmas tree and the gazebo for the community and light it up around five-o-clock,” Pelis said. “And we keep them on until just after New Years.”
The foundation currently features an eight-member committee, Pelis said but there always looking for more participants to help raise funds for their different educational programs and projects. The foundation formed in 2014 using $14,000 left over from fundraising following Hopkins Academy’s 350th anniversary celebration.
The Hadley Celebration of Lights begins at 5 p.m. on Nov. 25 at the Hopkins Academy gazebo, 131 Russell Street.
