WARE/PALMER/MONSON – Hundreds of people filtered in and out of Grenville Park in Ware on Aug. 2 for National Night Out, while simultaneously Palmer hosted their National Night Out at the Palmer Administrative Building and Police Department. Then, on the night of Aug. 4, the town of Monson hosted their Public Safety Night Out celebration at Veterans Field.
At each National Night Out the communities were able to meet with public safety and public works employees. Police K9’s demonstrated their skills, and in Ware, the Equine Team was surrounded by children looking to pet a 26-year-old horse.
In Ware, several games and activities were offered including a youth baseball game, scavenger hunt, spin art, rock painting and more. Local businesses and service providers set up booths to provide information and pass out goods, while Country Bank served free popcorn.
In Palmer, Magician Jonas Cain entertained children while many local businesses and groups including Monson Savings Bank, the Quaboag Hills Chamber of Commerce and Boy Scout Troops and more answered questions for residents.
In Monson, representatives from both police and fire departments had booths, as well as countless other community organizations. Residents could be found chatting with members of the Monson Arts Council, and enjoying donuts from Dunkin’.
