Friday night cruisin’ at the Brimfield Winery

Date: 7/21/2022

BRIMFIELD – The Brimfield Winery in collaboration with Bruce Marshall, the owner of Valley’s Classic Hits 97.7 FM, host a cruise night on Fridays – with the exception of antique shows dates – from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the Auction Acres Field on 35 Main St. in Brimfield. On the evening of July 8, 101 cars showed up – from classic T-Birds and Mustangs, to Camaros, El Caminos, Pontiacs and Cobras.

“Folks from the tri state area come to our cruise nights,” said Kate Corriveau, co-owner of the Brimfield Winery. “It’s a place for car enthusiasts and collectors to show off their vehicles and hang out with the community.”

Marshall added, “It’s a car culture. The cruise shows draw anywhere from 75 to over 100 cars on a weekly basis. A lot of spectators come to see the cars with their friends, family and co-workers.”

He continued, “Folks like to gather, sit around with one another and talk about their day as well as talk about the cars. It’s very important to support local businesses. To be able to bring people to venues which then in return purchased goods, see the cars and chat with everybody. It’s a great night out.”

The cruise nights are a lead up to the Pioneer Valley Annual Car Show on Oct. 8, which will be benefiting the Brimfield Fire Department and Hitchcock Academy this year. Corriveau and her husband, Rusty, started hosting cruise nights in 2020. She said they thought it would be a great idea and a way that people could safely space outside in the fields and still get out. For the first cruise night, they had 25 cars. The next Friday there were 110 cars, which Corriveau said she didn’t expect.

“People wanted to go out somewhere, but still remain safe. We had to postpone the cruise night for a little bit until the COVID[-19] restrictions were lifted. Last year, people came with their masks. Now, this year we can see their smiling faces,” she closed.
