Holland Select Board approves upcoming fall events

HOLLAND – The Holland Select Board unanimously approved the request to use Hitchcock Field for a “Fall Fest’’ during their Sept. 6 meeting.

The request was brought forth by Mike Breor of the Holland Wales Baseball Softball League (HWBSL), as HWBSL sponsors the event.

Breor explained that the event will take place on Oct. 1 and festivities will begin at 4 p.m. He described the night as an event for all. “We’re trying to get everyone together after a couple of rough years,” said Breor.

The event is slated to have music, food and ice cream trucks, a movie, bonfire and more. Breor noted that they will also be serving popcorn and candy.

There is no cost for admission, however, donations are welcome to benefit HWBSL players 2023 season.
If this first-time event goes well, Breor said they would like this to become an annual event.

Trunk or Treat

Stacy Stout, town administrator, shared some information on the “The Trunk or Treat” event. She explained that it will take place in the exact same format as previous years.

The event will occur on Oct. 29. From 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., participating vehicles will line up on East Brimfield Road, adjacent to Hitchcock Field. The actual Trunk or Treating will go from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Stout said they will coordinate with police on this to figure out road closure.

The board unanimously approved the “Trunk or Treat” event.

Clerk and administrative positions status

Stout shared that she has been “very busy” interviewing a lot of “excellent candidates” for various positions.

Once the interviews are complete, she will be sending resumes to the Select Board for review. At the time of the meeting, she said all the candidates will be put forth as they are qualified for the positions they have applied for. This includes a Conservation Commission clerk, board clerk and assistant town administrator. Stout said they have the candidates to fill those and will be scheduling a special meeting to conduct interviews.
