Holland to partake in National Wreaths Across America Day

HOLLAND – The town of Holland will be participating in National Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 17.

Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization was founded by Morrill Worcester in 2007. Its overall mission is “Remember, Honor, Teach.”

Every year on the designated December day, veteran’s wreath-laying ceremonies take place at Arlington National Cemetery along with more than 3,400 additional locations across the United States.

In Holland, attendees are asked to meet at the Community Center for 12 p.m. before bringing the wreaths over to the cemetery.

During the Dec. 6 Select Board meeting, Chairman Clelland Johnson said he has been working to change the town’s electric energy supplier. He explained that Constellation Energy drew a state program called MunEnergy. Through this, he said for the next three years, the town will receive energy for 16 cents per kilowatt an hour.

Town Administrator Stacy Stout also shared that the 2023 Annual Town Meeting will take place one week later than usual. The meeting is planned for May 30.

She provided an overview of the timeline with the Select Board so that all warrant articles are created, reviewed and approved before going to a town vote.
