WALES – Only 86 of the 1,427 registered voters in town – a six percent turnout rate – determined the results of Annual Town Election on May 25.
One contested race was on the ballot, for a three-year Board of Health position. Incumbent David Foote received 46 votes, beating out challenger Joe Trolio, who received 38 votes.
Michael Valanzola, incumbent, was re-elected for a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen.
Sarah Ryan was elected as town clerk. She will replace current Town Clerk Leis Phinney, as she is retiring.
Incumbent Susan Cadieux was re-elected for a three-year term for the Board of Assessors.
Danelle Laflower, incumbent, was re-elected for a one-year term on the Planning Board.
Bruce Cadieux was elected to serve a three-year term on the Planning Board along with Melaine Oney, a write-in, who will also serve a three-year unfilled seat.
Incumbent Carolyn Boehne will serve a three-year term as the library trustee.
Incumbents Edward Boyce and Christine Randall were re-elected for three-year terms on the School Committee.
Daniel Haley, incumbent, will maintain his constable seat. He will serve a three-year term.
Lastly, incumbent Peter Haley was re-elected for a three-year term as cemetery commissioner.
Phinney said all the terms, aside from the town clerk, will begin as soon as individuals are sworn in by the town clerk or assistant town clerk. The town clerk will take office seven days after the election. Phinney noted that the clerk must be sworn in by the town moderator or a justice of the peace.
