BRIMFIELD - Beginning May 1, Village Green Family Campground will welcome the return of campers, both old and new, for another season.
Located at 228 Sturbridge Rd., Village Green Family Campground is owned by Meg Twarowski and her husband, Lester.
Twarowski said they offer a variety of weekend activities for the whole family. “There is a themed weekend every weekend,” she continued. Some of the themes include a Harry Potter weekend, Dino weekend, space weekend, Mother’s and Father’s Day weekend, steak and lobster weekend, among others. With each weekend comes arts and crafts, a hayride and community bonfire. A complete list of themed weekends can be found on their website at https://www.villagegreencampground.com/activities.
Twarowski said they have live bands and food trucks that rotate on the weekends as well. She noted that her daughter-in-law is in charge of booking the events, with a lot in store for the new season.
What sets Village Green Family Campground apart from all the other campgrounds is the people, said Twarowski. “Our campers are extremely friendly,” she noted.
Twarowski went on to describe the campground as “old fashioned.” She explained that they have a two-acre pond with a beach that campers can utilize for activities such as fishing.
With a multitude of fire pits, Twarowski said the smell of a campfire does not compare to anything else.
Village Green Family Campground requires campers to bring their own supplies, such as campers and tents. As of press time, Twarowski said they have a waitlist for their seasonal campers.
For short-term campers, Twarowski said they have sites in their Safari Field. “We have no sewer sites, but we do have a dump station,” she added.
She said a great deal of their campers live within the hour, and are mostly from Massachusetts and Connecticut.
“[We are] looking very much forward to a normal camping season,” said Twarowski. She is hopeful that the COVID-19 cases and restrictions continue to ease, allowing for indoor gathering without having to wear masks.
“We are trying to do the best we can with what we can,” as we get back to a pre-pandemic time, said Twarowski.
Village Green Family Campground is open May 1 through October 15.
