Beauty Bar coming to West Street in Hatfield in the fall

Date: 8/29/2023

HATFIELD — A hair studio that spent a decade in Amherst is now moving its operations to 22 West St. in Hatfield by the fall.

Vici Hair Studio and Beauty Bar, which is located on 189 N. Pleasant St. in Amherst, will be called The Beauty Bar once the studio officially moves the business to Hatfield.

“The decision to move from Amherst did not come lightly,” owner Kate Poole said in a Facebook announcement. “It has been our home for nearly 10 years and has brought us the most amazing and supportive clientele.”

In an interview with Reminder Publishing, Poole said she wants to offer a “safe and relaxing” type of atmosphere at the new location, where people can receive any type of hair service they want. She said they also offer facials, waxing and other aesthetic needs, as well.

“We just really want a nice, one-stop-shop environment,” Poole said. “I’m a mom and a lot of my clients are moms, so I think it’s so important to have that time to take care of ourselves.”

Poole, a Hatfield resident, said she wanted to move to 22 West St. because of her adoration for the town and also because hair salons were lacking in the area.

“There’s really nothing between Deerfield and Northampton,” Poole said. “Everyone has to leave the town and spend their money outside of the town, so I really wanted to bring something back home for everybody.”

Before opening Vici, Poole went to the Paul Mitchell School in Rhode Island, which is a cosmetology and beauty school. She graduated from hair school in 2006 and has now spent 17 years entrenched in the industry.

The plan currently is to open The Beauty Bar sometime in the fall, according to Poole. In the meantime, they are completing renovations in the new spot and still taking clients in Amherst.

“I want to make sure my stylists can still work, and everyone can still get their hair done in the meantime,” Poole said. “The goal is slowly and smoothly transition from Amherst right into Hatfield.”

No date is currently set yet for the opening, but Poole said a website will eventually be available for people to visit.

“I’ve definitely learned after 10 years in the industry that it takes a village,” Poole said, of her career and the recent move. “I couldn’t do it without me and us.”
