WESTHAMPTON – Westhampton resident Nancy Ronan recently published “Comet Goes to the Farm,” her second book in the “Adventures with Comet” series starring her 6-year-old golden retriever.
Ronan published her first book, “Comet Goes Geocaching,” in May. “The first book in the ‘Adventures with Comet’ series was originally made as a single copy hardcover Shutterfly photo book,” she explained. Comet is a Bright Spot Therapy Dog and part of the Reading Buddy Program.
“Comet and his Westhampton Elementary School friends would read his book, as well as other stories, during his weekly visits,” she began. “COVID-19 put a pause on his visits to the school and I wanted to enable his ‘kids’ to still have a connection with him.”
Now Comet, accompanied by his 5-year-old sister Clementine, embarks on an adventure to the farm. “I decided to do a farm book as his second adventure since I already had many photos as well as the universal appeal of dogs and farm animals,” said Ronan. Comet and Clementine spend time making new animal friends as they visit local farms in the area.
A portion of the proceeds received from Comet’s newest book will be donated to animals in need. “One dollar from each book purchased will be donated to MSPCA-Nevins Farm,” Ronan said. MSCPA-Nevins Farm, located in Methuen, is an animal care and adoption facility that specializes in rehabilitating farm animals.
Ronan stated the donation will be in honor of Loudville Acres Farm in Easthampton. “They are one of the farms where Comet (and his sister Clementine) visited. All of the animals living there are rescues,” she said.
Ronan teased there’ll be more Comet adventures soon. “Comet’s Puppy Days, Comet’s Fun and Games, Comet’s Holidays/Seasons are current works in progress,” said Ronan.
