WESTHAMPTON – The Town Hall and Annex building will receive a new roof by FRG Contractor Corporations from Everett. The company had the lowest bid, with a total project cost of $46,845.
The town opened bids for a new roof earlier this month and awarded the bid on July 20. They received bids from four other companies that had totals ranging from $53,400 to $104,783.
FRG will remove existing slate shingles, repair and replace sub-roof materials, and install new asphalt shingles. The existing roof has had leaking problems, snow will fall off and rip the gutters and hit the sidewalks. Town Clerk Cheryl Provost said repairs over the years have been done but the Town Property and Energy Assignment Committee suggested the town get an entirely new roof.
While they have not signed a contract yet to begin the construction, it is set to finish by Nov. 1 if there are no interruptions that could push back the finish date.
