SOUTHAMPTON – Edwards Public Library is offering residents 10 years of age and older the opportunity to learn American Sign Language (ASL).
Youth Librarian Johanna Rodriguez Douglass said the event would offer residents of a variety of ages the opportunity to learn a skill they could utilize for a lifetime, adding it would bring greater equity to the community.
“The more we can learn the languages of others, the better we will be able to communicate,” she said.
Instructor Marianne Molinari will be leading two free ASL introductory classes on Zoom. Rodriguez Douglass noted teaching ASL fits perfectly on the Zoom platform.
The first session will take place March 23 from 4 to 5 p.m and the second session on March 25 from 4 ro 5 p.m.
To receive the code to join the Zoom session, call the library at 527-9480 or email edwards@cwmars.org.
