Williamsburg Planning Board signs ANR for Old Goshen Road easement

Date: 6/1/2021

WILLIAMSBURG – During the Williamsburg Planning Board’s May 24 meeting, the board agreed to sign an Approval Not Required (ANR) for a permanent conservation easement on Old Goshen Road and discussed strategy ahead of the Annual Town Meeting on June 7.

To start the ANR discussion, Dan DeLany from Fuss and O’Neill, said his team was brought on for the project after soil erosion occurred at the site in 2018.

“We were not the designers of record originally on the project, we were hired by the solar developer once there were some issues with soil erosion back in 2018,” he said.

DeLany explained the ANR was necessary because there were permanent easements to both the Hilltown Land Trust and Kestrel Land Trust.

“The reason for it is part of the agreement with the [Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is that this land will be put into a permanent conservation easement, it will be deeded to the Hilltown Land Trust, and will be in perpetual easement to the Kestrel Land Trust so it will always be in permanent conservation,” he said.

With little discussion, the board agreed to sign the ANR.
