Hearing slated for indoor cannabis growing facility in Blandford

Date: 2/1/2023

BLANDFORD — The Planning Board has scheduled a public hearing at the Blandford Town Hall, 1 Russell Stage Rd., at 6 p.m. on Feb. 9 to consider the application for a site plan review and special permit for the Pudding Hill Farm LLC marijuana cultivation project  at 1 Julius Hall Rd., Blandford. This application is for a Tier 1 license from the Cannabis Control Commission, which permits a growing canopy of up to 5,000 square feet.

The applicants, Thomas W. Fielding and Michael Scott O’Connor, propose to start a small indoor heritage marijuana cultivation facility in a renovated barn, on a parcel currently zoned as Agricultural.

At a virtual community outreach meeting in March 2020,  Fielding and O’Connor introduced their proposed business, saying they plan to grow 30 to 40 plants annually in a 250 square foot corner of the existing barn on the farm that they purchased in September 2019.

Fielding signed a host community agreement with the town on March 1, 2020, pledging to give to the town 1 percent of the wholesale value of the marketable product sold offsite. No onsite sales would be permitted.

The completed application and plans, which are posted on the town website, show a cultivation room, flowering room, drying room and office space in a corner of the barn, along with security systems and other details of their proposed business.
