RUSSELL – Russell Town Clerk Jodie Paradis has released the 2021 political calendar relating to the Town Caucus and Town Election.
The Town Caucus took place on April 26 at Russell Elementary School. Caucus nomination certificates are due in the Town Clerk’s office on April 29.
The last day for filing nomination papers with the Board of Registrars for the Town Election is May 3 at 5 p.m. The last day to fill vacancies caused by withdrawals is May 5.
The last day for registration of voters for the Annual Town Election and Town Meeting will be May 18 at Russell Town Hall from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Annual Town Election will be conducted on June 7 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Russell Elementary School. The Town Meeting (Business Portion) will be held on June 14 at 7 p.m. at the Russell Elementary School.
Offices to be filled include:
• Moderator, One for One Year. Incumbent: J. Illtyd Fernandez-Sierra.
• Selectman, One for Three Years. Vacancy.
• Tree Warden, One for One Year. Incumbent: Louis Garlo.
• Library Trustee, One for Three Years. Incumbent: Gloria Farrell.

• Gateway Regional School Committee, One for Three Years. Incumbent: Tara Balboni.
• Cable T.V. Commissioner, One for Three Years. Incumbent: Louis Garlo.
• Cemetery Commissioner, One for Three Years. Incumbent: Lenise Pappas.
• Municipal Light Board, One for Three Years. Incumbent: Louis Garlo.
Planning Board, Three for Three Years. Incumbents: Michael Carpenter, William Hardie, James Oleksak.
• Water Commissioner, One for Three Years. Incumbent: Roger Bush.
• Sewer Commission, One for Three Years. Incumbent: Dennis Moran.
• Constable, One for Three Years. Incumbent: Gloria Farrell.
Huntington
Early Vote by Mail is open for anyone registered to vote and wishing to vote in the May 15 election. Applications for ballots are available on the Town website: huntingtonma.us > Officials > Clerk > 2021 Vote by Mail Application near the bottom of the page, or by contacting the Clerk for an appointment to pick up at Town Hall.
Town Clerk Linda Hamlin released the names on the ballot for the May 15 election, and asked that residents consider running for vacancies as write-in candidates.
Hamlin said write-in candidates must fulfill Section 9 of the Town of Huntington’s General Bylaw: “Residence Requirement for Elected Positions: No person shall be elected or appointed to an Elected position in Town government unless their name is on the registered voters’ list at least nine (9) months as of January 1st of the year of the election.”
