HUNTINGTON – The Recreation Committee hosts its annual Easter egg hunt on April 9, beginning at 11 a.m., in Pettis Field, after having to cancel last year due to COVID-19. The rain date is April 10, same time.
Children will be divided into three different age groups for the hunt, with the groups going out from youngest to oldest. Vicki Mayhew, president of Huntington Recreation, said that the cutoff ages may change based on how many of each age show up, but normally the groups are children up to 3 years old first, then 4-7 years of age, then 8-11 years of age.
All participants must bring their own baskets, and may collect as many eggs as they find. One egg in each age group will contain a paper that says, “you are the winner,” and that lucky winner will receive a special Easter basket.
The plastic eggs contain small novelty toys and chocolates. Mayhew said the committee has enough supplies, but anyone who would like to volunteer to help fill the eggs or hide them would be welcome, and may contact recreation@huntingtonma.us to volunteer.
