CHESTER – Two significant town offices may be filled by only a handful of votes at Chester’s town election on May 7.
No one signed up to run for a three-year term to replace outgoing Selectman Richard Holzman, who declined to run again. Also, no one volunteered to run as School Committee representative from Chester for three years.
Both of these key positions will be filled by write-in nominees who choose to accept the roles, according to Town Administrator Katherine Warden. She said there is no minimum number of votes required for a resident to be elected as a write-in candidate.
Running uncontested for seats in the town election are Lyle Snide for Water Commission, one-year term; Donald T. Bean for Water Commission, two-year term; Robert L. Daley for Water Commission, three-year term; Karen Savoy and Jane Sutton for two three-year terms as library trustees; and Terry Murphy for a three-year term on the Board of Assessors.
Polls will be open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Town Hall, 15 Middlefield Rd., Chester.
