HUNTINGTON – The Huntington Summer Music Series Thursday evenings on the town green will kick off this week with Misty Blues on July 15. This year, the concerts will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m., will be rain or shine and will be moved inside Stanton Hall in case of rain, according to Vicki Mayhew of the Huntington Community Events Committee.
“This year there will be no picnic or bake sales, but we anticipate them returning next year. Patrons are welcome to bring their own snacks or dinner to enjoy during the concert,” Mayhew said.
Misty Blues from Berkshire County pays homage to the older blues made popular by the bold and brassy women of its time, while still paying respect to classic male artists of the 20s, 30s and 40s.
Over the years, Misty Blues has produced several studio albums: “Electric Juke Joint” features classic blues renditions; “Roadhouse Revival” is a danceable twist on traditional gospel music; and “Between The Stacks,” their completely original album with the late Charles Neville on sax.
Core members are Gina Coleman, Jason Webster, Bill Patriquin, Jeff Dudziak, Ben Kohn, Rob Tatten and Aaron Dean.
On July 22, Rosie Porter & The Neon Moons will return to Huntington with classic country & old-fashioned honky-tonk.
Remaining artists include the groups Acoustic Thunder, Barons of Becket, S&M Acoustic and Jake Manzi. The series ends on Aug. 19.
All performances are free and are sponsored by the Huntington Community Events Committee and Huntington Cultural Council. Follow the Huntington Community Events Committee Facebook page for updates.
