Date: 5/10/2023

CHESTER — With no contested seats and nobody on the ballot for several key vacancies, only 82, 9% of Chester’s 906 registered voter participated in the town election on May 6.

Town Clerk Terry Donovan said people were saying why bother voting if there are no contested races. However, she said with the write-ins, all of the vacancies were filled.

Listed on the ballot and elected were John Baldasaro for a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen; Jason Forgue for a two-year term as a Chester representative on the School Committee; Barbara Pease Huntoon for a one-year term as moderator; Elizabeth Massa for a three-year term on the Board of Health, and Duane Pease for a three-year term as an electric light commissioner.

Winning seats through write-in votes were Brian Forgue, for a three-year term on the School Committee; Maryann Pease for a three-year term as library trustee, and Nicholas Chiusano for a one-year term as water commissioner.
