Noble and Cooley gift shop offers unique goods for holiday gifts

Date: 12/17/2019

GRANVILLE – With Christmas and the holidays just under a week away, the Noble and Cooley Gift Shop offers a unique set of gifts for any last minute shopping needs for friends and loved ones.

Tucked away down the street from the center of Granville, the Noble and Cooley Museum and Gift Shop is set right along the gorge on Water Street, and is open every weekday from 8 a.m - 5 p.m.

The gift shop is located to the left as soon as you walk into the museum and is lined with shelves of toy drums, ice buckets and officially licensed Noble and Cooley merchandise along with crafts and goods from other local artisans on consignment, according to Carol Jones, one of Noble and Cooley’s owners. Local artisans bring in their own goods such as wooden bowls, framed pictures and paintings, and other hand-crafted goods.

Jay Jones, also one of Noble and Cooley’s owners, said they have had a gift shop dating back to the 1950s before they turned it into an office and eventually turning it back into a gift shop in the 70s.

Carol said that her recommendation for gifts is the ice buckets. “I really like our ice buckets,” she said, “You can fill them up with wine bottles or other gifts, it can be a really nice addition to any gifts you may be giving.”

She added that Cool Pottery, which is run by Cooley Buy, is another part of the Noble and Cooley family in Granville and has its own selection of unique gifts for the holidays. She said Cool Pottery offers a selection of soaps, handmade pottery, slates and other locally made Granville products.

Between both of the Noble and Cooley family-run shops, residents have the opportunity to pick up some unique last minute gifts from local artisans and businesses.
