RUSSELL – The Russell-Montgomery Police Department will host a Family Fun Day and Car Show from noon to 5 p.m. on Aug. 21 at Strathmore Park, the first since the police departments in the two towns merged.
Several area police departments will be represented, including the Massachusetts State Police, Westfield Police, and departments from the Hilltowns and surrounding communities. There will be an antique car show, a K-9 demonstration, the Thin Blue Line Corvette, an equipment truck display of the American flag, a landing of the Life Star helicopter, and an appearance by Boomer, the Springfield Thunderbirds mascot.
The Bad News Jazz and Blues Orchestra, and acoustic duo Kittie and the Beard, will perform live. There will also be plenty of food, a bounce house, water slide, dunk tank and cornhole games for the whole family to enjoy.
Admission to the fair is free. The Russell Police Association will take donations to be used for training and to sponsor upcoming events, such as Haunted
Strathmore, a huge haunted trunk-or-treat planned for 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 29.
Updated information on all activities may be found on the Russell-Montgomery Police Department Facebook page.
