Date: 12/14/2022

HUNTINGTON – About 70 seniors from local councils on aging attended a holiday brunch and performance at Gateway Regional High School on Dec. 7.

Breakfast was served by National Honor students, as friends from neighboring towns greeted each other, appreciating being able to gather in person again.

Food Services Director Tasha Hartley thanked the students and her hard-working staff.

“The band students are so excited, and have a wonderful program planned,” she said, after announcing the menu of vegetarian quiche, fruit salad, sausage patties and homemade cinnamon buns.

The musical program in the Performing Arts Center included the fourth graders and the seventh and eighth grade chorus under the direction of Brendan Goodwin,, as well as the seventh and eighth grade band and the high school jazz band and concert band directed by Beth Guertin, and the high school chorus led by Gina Clark.

School Superintendent Kristen Smidy was pleased with the turnout, and happy to host area seniors. Former Food Services Director Wendy McCaul, who started the annual tradition, also gave a thumbs-up to Hartley and her team.
