HUNTINGTON — Town Clerk Linda Hamlin recently announced that nomination papers will be available July 6-8 for a September special election to fill vacancies on the Board of Selectmen and School Committee.
According to state law, the last day and hour to obtain nomination papers would be 5 p.m. on July 11. Hamlin said the papers must be picked up in person, and she is available by appointment 6:30-8 p.m. on July 6, 7 and 8 only. Prospective candidates should email the clerk at townclerk@huntingtonma.us to set up an appointment.
The vacancies are due to the resignations of Selectman Karon Hathaway and Gateway Regional School Committee Huntington representative David Lubbers.
To qualify for the ballot, candidates must return their papers with signatures of registered Huntington voters by 5 p.m. on July 19, according to state law. The election calendar is posted at Huntington Town Hall, Moltenbrey’s Market, B&D Variety Store and the Huntington Post Office.
