BLANDFORD – Town Administrator Joshua Garcia announced the super structure replacement of two small bridges on Gore Road and North Blandford Road is scheduled to begin in April.
“We ask residents and other commuters that often travel these roads to expect closure and delays, therefore we urge the public to plan your commute ahead,” Garcia said.
Signs will go up for the Gore Road bridge on April 10, and the bridge will be closed on April 14. Demolition will begin the following week.
The bridge on Gore Road is scheduled to reopen on June 5.
The work on the North Blandford bridge will follow. The North Blandford bridge is scheduled to close on June 10 and reopen on July 20.
The complete schedule is available on the town website at townofblandford.com.
The small bridge replacements are made possible through a grant of $500,000 from the Baker-Polito Administration’s Municipal Small Grant Program.
These bridges, which had deteriorated and become structurally deficient, are used extensively by fire, police, and emergency responders as well as school busses, utilities, businesses and members of the community. A detour of approximately 14 miles would be implemented if these two bridges were out of service.
