HILLTOWNS – During the endless rain that started this spring season, Ryen Nolau and Justine Braman-Nolau of West Otis Landscaping thought there might be a way to help their hilltown customers stuck at home waiting for the weather to clear.
“We were thinking, everyone’s doing cleanouts. Why don’t we do dump runs,” Justine Braman-Nolau said.
They offered a special, $150 to fill a 12-foot trailer load of old materials including mattresses, steel, fencing, brush, old gardening supplies, and other items lying around.
Immediately, they received numerous calls that kept them busy for weeks. Loads were brought to the Lenox Waste Transfer Facility, which charged them by weight.
“I don’t make anything from doing this. It’s really just a courtesy,” Ryen Nolau said, adding that it helps to fill holes in the schedule.
Now that the weather is finally turning, the dump runs are slowing down, as everyone turns their focus to landscaping, mowing, weeding, mulching and gardening, their main business.
