Howl-O-Ween pet costume contest supports animal services, programs

Date: 10/26/2022

LUDLOW – On Oct. 30, there will be a pet costume contest and basket raffle will take place at Iron Duke Brewing from 3 to 5 p.m.

The fundraiser is for Ludlow’s stray and injured animals and all the proceeds will directly provide emergency vet care, trap-neuter-return feral cat programs, food and supplies for shelter pets, and behavior programs to help keep pets in their forever homes.

The event is sponsored by Halfway Home Cat Rescue Inc. Ludlow and Ludlow Animal Control.

Animal Control Officer Octavia Anderson said, “One of the many reasons for putting on this event is to raise money. My budget cannot account for say a $250 emergency pet fee so all the money can go to the Ludlow Animal Shelter and those who need it.”

She added, “It will be a lot of fun. We have tons of baskets to be raffled and it is for a good cause.”
Tickets cost $10 at the door and includes five raffle tickets. There will be people going around at the event selling additional raffle tickets.

Baskets will be provided by Iron Duke Brewing, Halfway Home Cat Rescue, Petco, Randall’s Farm and more.

Anderson said all pets are welcome to participate if they are in a costume and their owners are welcome to dress up as well if they want to do a theme.

The winner will receive a $50 gift card.
