LUDLOW – On Jan. 9, John’s Corner Breakfast and Lunch opened its doors with a soft reopening for the community after the restaurant was closed for almost three years.
“The first two days were absolutely insane,” new owner John Wrona said. “I had them waiting in a line at the door. Once a table finished eating, I replaced them right away with another group. I probably had at least 15 people waiting outside before I even opened.”
Wrona said that he planned to have the week of Jan. 9 be his soft reopening and then start advertising to the public that John’s Corner will be opened every day from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for breakfast and lunch.
John’s Corner is located at 204 Sewall St.
John’s Corner closed a year before the coronavirus pandemic according to Wrona and the past owner was ready to sell after owning the business for around 30 years.
Wrona said he has renovated the entire space and is excited to run John’s Corner.
“I had a restaurant before this for three years but had a problem with the landlord there. I closed last April and have been looking for a year for a new place. I found this place after about nine months and renovated the place to get it ready to reopen,” Wrona added.
Wrona said most items from the old menu are still available, but he’s also added items like baked ham on the bone and Portuguese and Polish food.
He added, “We also plan to have a new special each day like a meatloaf dinner or lasagna. Eventually I would like to have fish and chips in here on Fridays because that is always a good seller.”
All the food at John’s Corner is fresh and homemade. “We don’t buy anything frozen,” Wrona said.
Wrona added how excited he is to add a place for people in Ludlow to enjoy rather than having to travel anywhere else.
“We want to make sure to take care of the people around here and local area. There is no other breakfast and lunch venues around here. People who don’t want to travel and enjoy the hometown style can come here and have family and comfort food.”
Wrona thinks John’s Corner is moving in a good direction and wants everyone to stop in to enjoy the food and atmosphere of a once popular place.
