LUDLOW – Families can get ready for an afternoon of fun, music, photos, raffles and refreshments. The Ludlow Boys & Girls Club will host its annual dance party on March 4.
Formerly known as the Father Daughter Dance, this dance party that has been going on for over 10 years received a name change to make it welcoming for everyone.
Director of Programs Jodie Lambeau said, “The club’s top priority has always been to bring the community together. We recognize that in Ludlow and our neighboring areas, family structure is noticed. One of the ways we bring the community together is by being inclusive.”
The afternoon session from 3 to 5 p.m. is intended for youth attendees ages 2 to 7. A new evening session will be added from 5 to 7 p.m. and will be geared toward youth attendees ages 8 to 13.
The event will introduce a second session this year for an older age range.
“Last year we noticed that some of the older kids did not want to spend the same amount of time with their younger siblings or folks they view as little kids. We want to appeal to different age groups, and it is important to celebrate relationships between children and parental figures,” Lambeau said.
Both sessions will be filled with music, dancing, activities and snacks.
Lambeau said, “The club is grateful to have support for the Kids and Caregivers Dance from the Ludlow Elementary PTO who will provide snacks, Beckie Bragga Photography who is offering formal or prom styled photos, and volunteers from Country Bank to help make sure the event is fun for everyone.”
Cash-only purchases can be made on photos, raffle tickets, snacks, and drinks.
Tickets are $10 per pair and $5 per additional guest. Tickets must be purchased in advance, now through March 1 at the Boys & Girls Club or online at www.ludlowbgc.org/communityevents/kids--caregivers-dance.
You can either pick up the tickets before the event or the day of the dance, but they must be purchased ahead of time according to Lambeau.
Lambeau said that this event is popular each year bringing in approximately 100 pairs or 200 people.
“This event is always a wonderful opportunity for kids to bond with their caregivers and enjoy a fun afternoon out. We are excited to be working with so many members of the community to help families make happy memories together,” Lambeau added.
