Ludlow Lions Club ‘Letter from Santa’ project open to all kids

Date: 11/18/2022

LUDLOW – The Ludlow Lions Club will be offering a personalized letter from Santa to those who pay $5 and fill out a form online with the information needed.

The recipient will receive a personalized letter from Santa in an envelope stamped from the North Pole, along with a small bag of reindeer food, and a sticker.

The form online consists of questions to identify the recipient’s name, accomplishments from the year, a toy or game they want and the names of their siblings, friends and/or pets.

Ludlow Lions Club Executive Board member Dennis Fountain said the letters from Santa project has been going on for the last two years and quickly gaining popularity.

“The first year we wrote around 50 to 75 letters and last, we did around 200 to 225 letters. This year we are already at 250 letters, which shows this project is taking off,” Fountain said.

Fountain said this project is not only limited to people who live in Ludlow but all around the country.

“We have gone as far as Alaska. There are a few families there that participate. I have no idea how they found out about this project, but it is great. We are also have many families who send a letter to their entire family,” he added.

All the funds raised from this project go back to the community.

Fountain said that because they only charge $5, Ludlow Lions Club does not make a lot of money but that is not the point of the project.

“We do not expect to make a ton of money off this project, and we never will. It is the idea of giving something back to the community and helping the kids. That is what this idea was originally for. Imagine the look of joy on your child’s face as they open a letter from Santa that is addressed to them and mentions the people and things that they love. That is the best part,” he said.

The deadline for submissions is Dec. 3 and “Santa” will be mailing letters the second week of December.
